About Us
Making Christmas Brighter for Local Children
The Old Newsboys Association of Marine City is a local charitable organization dedicated to helping children and families in our community during the Christmas season.
Through the generosity of our neighbors, local businesses, organizations and volunteers, we work together to make sure children in our community are remembered at Christmas.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
The Old Newsboys Association of Marine City has a longstanding tradition of bringing our community together to make Christmas brighter for local children in need.
Our organization is powered by people who care about their neighbors. Through donations, fundraising and volunteer efforts, we provide Christmas assistance directly to eligible children and families living in the communities we serve.
What began as a community effort continues today because generations of local residents have been willing to give their time, talents and financial support to help children close to home.
Our Mission
Let No Child Be Forgotten
Our mission is to help ensure that children in our community are remembered at Christmas by providing clothing, shoes, gifts and other approved Christmas assistance to eligible families in need.
Everything we do is centered around one simple idea:
Every Child Deserves the Joy of Christmas.
Helping Children Close to Home
The Old Newsboys Association of Marine City serves eligible children and families residing within the Marine City Area Fire Authority service area. See Areas 1 and 3 on the map.
The Marine City Area Fire Authority serves approximately 44 square miles and 11,000 residents throughout:
- Marine City
- Cottrellville Township
- East China Township
- China Township
Our focus is local. The support we receive from our community helps us provide Christmas assistance to children right here in the communities we call home.
What We Do
Christmas Clothing & Shoes
We help eligible children receive new clothing and shoes so they can have the things they need during the Christmas season.
Christmas Toys
Christmas should be exciting for every child. Toys donated to the organization help provide something special for children to discover on Christmas morning.
Community Fundraising
Our volunteers work throughout the community to raise the funds necessary to make our Christmas assistance program possible.
Local Giving
The generosity of individuals, families, businesses and community organizations allows the Old Newsboys Association of Marine City to continue helping local children year after year.
How Christmas Assistance Works
1. Apply
Families residing within our service area can apply for Christmas assistance during our annual application period.
2. Eligibility Is Reviewed
Applications are reviewed according to the eligibility requirements and guidelines established by the Old Newsboys Association of Marine City.
3. Receive Christmas Assistance
Approved families receive assistance to help provide clothing, shoes and Christmas gifts for their children.
4. Make Christmas Brighter
With the help of our donors and volunteers, families can enjoy a little more joy — and a little less worry — during the Christmas season.
A Tradition of Giving
The tradition of the Old Newsboys is about much more than selling a newspaper.
When an Old Newsboys volunteer offers a paper in exchange for a donation, it represents neighbors helping neighbors and a community coming together for its children.
Every donation, large or small, becomes part of something bigger — an effort to make sure local children know their community hasn’t forgotten them.
Let No Child Be Forgotten.
Powered by Volunteers
The Old Newsboys Association of Marine City depends on dedicated volunteers who generously give their time to help make our mission possible.
From collecting donations and organizing toys to fundraising and preparing for Christmas distribution, volunteers are at the heart of what we do.
You don’t have to make a huge commitment to make a difference. Sometimes just a few hours of your time can help make Christmas brighter for a local child.
Local Donations Helping Local Children
Every contribution helps us continue a longstanding tradition of caring for children in our community.
Individuals, families, businesses and community organizations all play an important role in making our Christmas program possible.
Whether it’s a financial contribution, donated toys, volunteering your time or supporting one of our fundraising activities, there are many ways you can help.
Your generosity can put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas.
Together, We Can Make Christmas Brighter
The Old Newsboys Association of Marine City is neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers giving their time and a community coming together for its children.
With your help, we can continue this tradition and make sure local children experience the excitement, hope and joy that make Christmas special.
